Glee star Cory Monteith has entered rehab for substance addiction. A spokesperson for the 30 year old actor announced on Easter Sunday (March 31) that he has chosen to seek professional treatment to get his life back on track.
"[Cory] has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," his representative told People. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."
Soon after the announcement was made, fellow Glee co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele said she was "proud" of Cory for taking this step.
"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision," Lea told People.
Cory has been open about his substance abuse struggles, in 2011 he admitted he had previously entered rehab when he was 19. At the time, he said he hoped that being honest about his addiction would help others going through similar problems.
"I don't want kids to think it's okay to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors, too," he said in 2011. "But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it."
We wish Cory nothing but the best!
