Overall I think this is a good album, and a great follow-up to ¡UNO!, the 1st album of the 3. This album may have to grow on some people because it’s not the “Punk” Green Day that people know. You know, the Punk Green Day that we saw flip out at the iHeartRadio Festival not too long ago. Anyways, I’m going to give you a track-by-track rundown of every song on the album and point out the weak spots and which songs are my favorite. Here we go. Just keep in mind that this album contains strong language, but you can also purchase a clean version of the album. |
1. See You Tonight
Overall, I give this album a solid 8/10. Definitely worth checking out. Even if you aren’t a Green Day fan, I still suggest checking this album out, because I’m sure there will be a few songs that appeal to you. There are many different styles on this album, which is nice because it keeps it fresh and from not getting boring. You can purchase this album in stores or on iTunes on Tuesday (11/13). The release date for ¡TRÉ! has been moved up to December 11th.
- This is the opening track on the album, and I think it’s nothing more than that. The harmonies are nice, but it’s only about a minute long.
- This is the “dirty” song of the album, if the title didn’t already give that away. I really like this song. It has a nice baseline as well as a catchy melody that goes on top of that nicely. I’d stay away from this song if you have sensitive ears, or parents around. It’s up to you.
- This, in my opinion, is the weakest song on the album. It starts out awesome, but then it just goes down hill from there. It’s not that bad of a song, it’s just not as good as the rest of the songs on the album, but that’s just me.
- This might be my favorite song on the album. It’s still a toss-up between this and 2 others. It has the same beat and verse chord progression as “Give Me Novocaine” from the “AMERICAN IDIOT” album they released back in 2004. The chorus to this song has the same harmonies as “Fortunate Son”, which is a bonus track on “AMERICAN IDIOT” as well.
- This is one of the slow(er) songs on the album, but its a good one nonetheless. This might be one of the songs that has to grow on people, because it’s different. I personally love the harmonies in this song.
- Now we pick up the speed again, which is also in the toss-up for my favorite song on the album. This song has a great drum beat and an overall “feel-good” mood.
- This is the song you’ve probably heard already because they released the single as an exclusive to their “Idiot Club” members a few weeks back, and they released the music video earlier today (11/7). I could really see this song playing at some point during a movie. Most likely the opening credits, while everyone is having a good ol’ time.
- This will probably be one of the underrated songs of the album, if you ask me. There’s a nice punk guitar feeling to this song, and it’s been in my head all day. I’m sure it will be in yours too, maybe.
- This is the other song in my toss-up. There’s just something about this song. The melody is super catchy, and there is a very good guitar part throughout this whole song. I’m honestly not sure what these lyrics are about yet, but that doesn’t make this song any less awesome than it already is.
- It’s funny because this song has the same title as the lady who is featured in the next song on the album. Anyways, this song really isn’t all that bad, although I’m sure some people will complain about it, like always.
- Here we go….he song on the album that will get the most hate I’m sure. Yes, that’s right. There is rapping in this song. I don’t have any problems with this song. It’s a nice change-up from the rest of the album, and the rest of their songs for that matter. It’s really catchy, but most people are close-minded and will tear this song apart.
- I really like this song. It starts out with a nice little guitar lick that reminds me of something Irish or something. I really don’t know. I love the melody in this song that accompanies the guitar and drums. On a side note, this is the longest song on the album.
- The 2nd song on the album named after a girl. I have no clue where these names came from but that’s besides the point. This is the other slower song on the album. However, it’s a great song nonetheless. It’s an interesting song to end this album, but it gets you excited for the next, and final installment of this trilogy.
