In the summer of 1997, Hanson's hit song "MMMBop" was nearly impossible to escape as it was being played on the radio all the time. But where were the guys the first time they heard the song on the radio? As they reflect on 21 years of being a band, they told Radio.com about their experience of hearing the song that made them a household name on the radio for the first time.
"The first time we heard our song was in New York City," Zac recalled.
"I remember we were traveling around, doing promotion, trying to get the record off the ground and we were getting into our van and on came ‘MMMBop,’"Taylor added. "We all sat and listened."
"Actually, in Times Square, getting out going to the Renaissance Hotel," Isaac added.
There's some artists that get sick of the song that made them a hit, but that's not the case with Hanson. The guys say the song will always have a special place in their hearts.

"‘MMMBop’ holds a special place in our history for one because it introduced us to the world," Taylor said. "That song carries such a different meaning to different people. To some people it’s the pop song that got played a thousand times that summer."
"We’ve had conversations with everybody from John Lasseter, who runs Pixar, to Michael Stipe to Fiona Apple to Billy Joel, about the way that song entered pop culture or somebody’s day or year or summer," he continued. "It has it’s little moment which is one of the amazing things that few people ever get to share with the world."
Hanson isn't slowing down, their sixth studio album, ANTHEM, is due out June 18 and then they're planning a world tour afterwards.
