2012 was full of lots of new talented artists and bands! You nominated them, you voted on them, and now here's the results. The Top 10 Best Up and Comers of 2012, as voted by you! We'll be seeing a lot of these acts in 2013!
10.) The Collective
. | We're proud to say we were one of the first website's to cover The Collective after they came together on The X-Factor AU and even after coming in third on the show, we're still covering them! The guys are set to release a Mini-Album in Australia on December 14, which we predict will do awesome on the charts. 9.) Megan and Liz
. | It's been quite the year for these YouTube stars! Megan and Liz won the Macy's Rising Star competition this year, which earned them a spot on the line-up of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! The two recently released their Bad For Me - EP which features seven tracks including their current single and title track, "Bad For Me." This is just the beginning for these girls who will continue to raise in 2013. They recently announced they'll be part of the 45-city Teen Choice Live Tour starting in January. |
8.) Leon Thomas III
. | Victorious star Leon Thomas III has had a pretty big year. He produced his first EP/mixtape, Metro Hearts, earlier this year which he made available to his fans for free. In addition he joined Big Time Rush for a few of the last dates on their Big Time Summer Tour, where he was a huge hit with the audience! This guy is super talented and we know life after Victorious will be kind to this guy. We can't wait to see what he does next! You can follow along for the ride at LeonThomas3.com. |
7.) Max Schneider
. | You may know Max Schneider from the Nickelodeon series How To Rock but he's quickly becoming a raising star! The 20 year-old joined Victoria Justice on tour earlier this year and has produced several cover songs and medley's on YouTube that get thousands of views. In addition he headlined a concert of his own at The Roxy in Los Angeles back in October. If you're unfamiliar with Max, you can take a listen to some of his original music on his website. |
6.) District 3
. | We live in a world where boy bands are back...and we're not complaining! District 3 is one of the new one's that hit the scene this year when they were on The X-Factor UK. Mickey, Dan, and Greg were formally know as GMD3 before changing their name on The X-Factor. The three have been best friends for around five years now. We know big things are ahead for these boys and can't wait to see what they do in 2013! |
5.) Conor Maynard
. | There's no doubt the British rocked the world of pop music this year and right in the middle of the modern-day British music invasion is 19 year-old Conor Maynard. He took the United States by storm this year with his hit song "Vegas Girl" and his current single "Turn Around" (feat. Ne-Yo) is on it's way up on the US Top 40 radio charts. Luckily for all of us, Conor isn't going anywhere anytime soon. His debut album, Contrast, which went #1 in the UK, will be released in the US in January. It's safe to say all of us at Hit Zone are pretty excited about it. |
4.) Karmin
After making YouTube covers for a few years, Karmin made it big in 2012 with their song "Brokenhearted," which dominated radio airwaves for much of the summer. It didn't stop there, Nick and Amy released their debut EP, Hello, back in May as well as a cover of "Sleigh Ride." The duo also confirmed an album and possibly even a Christmas album in 2013! How exciting is that?! |
3.) Cher Lloyd
. | Cher Lloyd is another one that's part of the modern day British music invasion! She's also another superstar from The X-Factor. She took the US by storm this year with her extremely catchy tune "Want U Back" and is currently doing well on the charts with "Oath" (feat. Becky G.). Cher released her US debut album, Sticks & Stones, earlier this year and she's currently working on a follow up. And we can't wait to hear what she does next! |
2.) Bridgit Mendler
Good Luck Charlie star Bridgit Mendler is proving to be much more than just another Disney star. She spent a lot of the year promoting her solo career. She released her debut album, Hello My Name Is..., back in October and has been promoting her single "Ready Or Not" heavily, a song that has been doing pretty well on the radio charts. With more Good Luck Charlie on the way and success as a solo artist, Bridgit is one to look out for 2013! |
1.) Ariana Grande
. | And coming in at #1 is Ariana Grande, who is best known for her role as Cat Valentine on Victorious. But Ariana has proved herself to be one hell of a talent! 2012 was a big year for her as she released a music video for her first solo single, "Put Your Hearts Up," and performed at the Citadel Tree Lighting Ceremony among other successes. With a debut album in the works and a brand new Nickelodeon show coming up, you'll be seeing a lot of Ariana in 2013! |
