In response to the school shooting that happened in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday morning, many top 40 radio stations have decreased the airplay or pulled Ke$ha's "Die Young" altogether. The lead single from Ke$ha's new album, Warrior, was #1 on Mediabase radio charts but has since dropped to #2 losing 11% of airplay in a matter of days. Ke$ha decided to take to Twitter to respond to her song being dropped from many stations.
"I understand. I had my very own issue with 'Die Young' for this reason," she wrote on Twitter on Tuesday night. "I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO."
The tweet was soon deleted afterwards but it's unknown what she means when she writes she was forced to sing the song. Ke$ha has a writing credit on the song, alongside Fun.'s Nate Reuss and producers Dr. Luke, Cirukut and Benny Blanco.
Ke$ha then addressed the tragedy more directly in a tweet that still remains published: "I'm so so so sorry for anyone who has been effected by this tragedy and I understand why my song is now inappropriate. words cannot express."

In addition to "Die Young," a number of other inappropriate songs were also pulled from most radio station's playlists including Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks."
Program director and morning host, Rich Minor, at WDAQ-FM in Danbury, CT told Billboard that they had been playing "Die Young" prior to the shooting but has since pulled it completely from the station.
"We've been playing it before Friday but not since and I think we're now done with it," he said. "Even though it's a fun pop/dance record about seizing the moment, all people are going to hear right now is those two words in the title."
Do you agree with "Die Young" being pulled from radio stations?
