Liam Payne revealed in This Is Us that he always wanted to be a firefighter because he "liked the idea of saving lives." Now that dream has come true in the worst possible way.
The sad news hit the internet late yesterday afternoon (September 3) that a friend of One Direction star Liam Payne was rushed to the hospital on Monday night (September 2) after a horrific fire accident involving a heater at Liam's London apartment. Multiple tweets from people close to Liam confirm that Liam's best friend, Andy Samuels, who was featured on Hit Zone in a interview earlier this year, was severely injured.
The Daily Mail reports that Liam's friend went to refuel the heater on Liam's balcony and something went horribly wrong setting both his friend and the balcony on fire. The reports are that the London Fire Brigade was called in around 9:45pm Monday night and put out the fire and his friend was rushed to the hospital.
Liam was in the kitchen at the time of the incident but immediately jumped into action getting his friend out and tried to put out the fire, he then accompanied his friend in the ambulance ride to the hospital. Liam wasn't hurt, but two others, another man and a woman, were also injured in the fire.

Fire Station Manager Laurie Kenny, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters worked quickly and professionally to get the fire under control as quickly as possible. About 30 people left the building before we arrived and were not injured."
“Two of the occupants had superficial burns to their hands and the third had burns to his hands and face. All three have been taken to hospital.”
A spokesperson from Liam's building apparently told The Mirror: "We are not disclosing any information."
A resident who lives two floors below Liam described the incident pretty well: "I looked up, saw flames. All I saw was an orange glow, so the flames were pretty big. I went to the toilet, heard an explosion. That’s when I called it in. The concierge got on the case."
"We were evacuated downstairs in the lift. Then a guy ran out with a cloth on his hands screaming. I didn’t get a look at him," the resident continued. "There was a guy who had burnt his face who was being helped by the emergency services. I didn’t see his face but he was quite a tall guy."

Andy is still in the hospital suffering "20 percent burns" on his face and upper body. As of last night, Andy was in stable condition: "Thank you so much for all of your lovely messages & prayers. On behalf of Andy's family & I we'd like you to know he is in a stable condition," his girlfriend tweeted on Tuesday.
The news took the One Direction Twitter world by storm with the hashtag "#PrayForAndy" trending worldwide and at one point becoming the #1 trending topic.
Several of Andy's friends also tweeted him well wishes. One Direction drummer Josh Devine tweeted: "@AndySamuels31 please get better soon bro. Thoughts and prayers with you xx" and 5 Seconds of Summer member Michael Clifford tweeted: "My thoughts and prayers going out to @AndySamuels31 right now . hope ur ok bro."
Sounds like a scary situation. We're keeping Andy and everyone involved in our thoughts and prayers and wish everyone who was injured a speedy recovery.
