Little Mix have talked more their hopes to take the US by storm with their music in 2013. We told you last month that the UK girl group hopes to emulate the success of One Direction in taking over the US music scene.
"I think like One Direction really opened the gate. With them, artists like Adele coming through America, it's been such a British year," Jade Thirlwall told MTV News this week. "With the Olympics and the whole royal family thing and all that stuff, I think everyone's just jumping on board Britain at the moment. It's nice to see and hopefully they'll still be waiting for us come next year."
"Obviously the boys had been dominating this year," fellow band member Jesy Nelson added. "It's about time we get girl power in there. So that's our aim for next year."
As you may know, Little Mix member Perrie Edwards is currently in a relationship with Zayn Malik from One Direction, the couple recently came in at #4 on our Cutest Couples of 2012 list. The girls say that's a good thing because many of their fans are fans of One Direction also.

"I think when we were on The X-Factor anyway, a lot of our fans were One Direction fans before Perrie and Zayn even got together," Jade continued to MTV News. "So we already had a lot of support from the 1D fans. And I think when Perrie and Zayn did get together, everyone was supportive of it and really kind of happy that two of their favorite bands were kind of getting together. But, yeah we have a lot of fans, whether it be One Direction ones or not."
With girl group Fifth Harmony in the finals of The X-Factor and Little Mix planning on bringing their music to the US, we can't help but wonder if 2013 will be the year the girl groups come back. What do you think?
