Last week we introduced you to Union J and District 3, the two boy bands from The X-Factor in the UK. Today, groups judge Louis Walsh says Simon Cowell knows Union J is a threat to One Direction after he failed to praise the band while talking about the show.
"He knows Union J are a threat to One Direction so he’s not going to say much about them,” Louis told the Daily Star.
But Louis isn't worried about Union J taking on One Direction in the boy band market and his backing both of his remaining bands, Union J and District 3.
"There’s always room for a new boyband if they are good enough and they work hard," he continued. "I think we have got two great boybands. It’s not just Union J, District 3 have come back into the race too."
Union J performed a version of Kelly Rowland's "When Love Takes Over" for their most recent live-show on The X-Factor.

Meanwhile District 3 performed a mash-up of Madcon and Chris Brown. The band received high praise from Louis and Zayn of One Direction. "Not gonna lie District 3 smashed it!" and "District 3 deffo my fave of the bands this year badman performance lads ! :)" the two tweeted respectively. They also got advice from Liam when they met him, "They’re such nice guys, they gave us some advice, Liam told us to ‘take everything with a pinch of salt and make sure you have fun with it 'cause it goes so fast'."
If you ask us, nobody can replace 1D, and every band is different in their own way. Let's also not forget The Collective from The X-Factor AU, another boy band that has been making noise down under. There's enough room in this world for multiple boy bands.
What do you think about all this? Are any of these new crops of boy bands a threat to One Direction?
