Nickelodeon has picked up Sam & Cat, a spinoff of its popular series iCarly and Victorious. The show is created by Nickelodeon hit-maker Dan Schneider and will star Jennette McCurdy (iCarly’s Sam Puckett) and Ariana Grande (Victorious’ Cat Valentine) who will each reprise their roles from their respective parent shows.
The news comes on the heels of Sunday's iCarly series finale, which drew 6.4 million total viewers.
The new series see their characters as unlikely roommates who become teen entrepreneurs by starting their own after-school babysitting business.
Nickelodeon has ordered 20 episodes, with production set to begin in January in Los Angeles for a 2013 premiere. The network announced the pilot order in August.
