Olly Murs is back with his third studio album in the UK! The album will also serve as his debut album in the US. For this review, I will be using the UK standard version of the album. The US album differs slightly with fewer tracks and tracks from Olly's previous UK albums. You can view the tracklist for the US version as well as the UK deluxe version HERE. The album is a total Olly Murs album all the way through and it's no disappointment. |
1.) Army of Two
This song is a great way to open up the album. It's such a big and catchy song and most importantly it's mostly about Olly and his fans. He told the Daily Sun: "It's a bit cheesy to write a song about you and your fans but you could interpret it as a relationship, marching to the future together. But it was written as me speaking to them saying to grow with me and we can keep going." Olly also said in his RPRT Listening Party that he's most excited to play this live on tour. Take a listen below.

2.) Troublemaker (feat. Flo Rida)
As the lead single from the album, "Troublemaker" is a new sound for Olly. It reminds us a lot of Maroon 5 (which is definitely a GOOD thing!). In his RPRT Listening Party he said it represents him the most out of all the songs on the album. The song went straight to #1 on the UK Singles Chart, making it Olly's fourth #1 single.

3.) Loud & Clear
This track has a bit of a Coldplay vibe, it has "Ohhhh's" in the background that remind me of "Paradise" in a way, but with that said it's another great big ballad from Olly.

4.) Dear Darlin'
This song has a great piano riff combined with a nice beat to keep it lively. It's a beautifully written song which is a compliment to Olly's songwriting ability. Here's Olly performing it on his show, The Xtra Factor, over the weekend.

5.) Right Place Right Time
The title track of this album is no let down, it's definitely a great pop tune with a beginning that sounds a bit like Gavin DeGraw's "Not Over You" (I know I'm making a lot of comparisons but believe me it's a GOOD thing). Much like "Dear Darlin'" there's a great piano riff but this one is combined with a more uptempo drum beat that's really catchy. It's one of my favorites on the album.

6.) Hand On Heart
During his RPRT Listening Party on UStream, Olly said this was the last song he wrote in the studio, he said he loves the melodies and says it's favorite song on the album. I have to agree with him - I'm a big fan of the of the catchy chorus and melodies. Take a listen to it below.

7.) Hey You Beautiful
Olly taps his inner One Direction for this awesome club-friendly pop track. It's got great riffs and catchy lyrics that will sure have you jamming out.

8.) Head To Toe
On "Head To Toe" Olly claims you as his own and sings about doing whatever it takes to get to you and not caring what anybody else thinks. It's another great song that fans will love and will have you bopping your head along with the beat.

9.) Personal
Olly sings about not being able to forgive anymore and taking things personal in this track...as the title would suggest. Another great tune, in my opinion.

10.) What A Buzz
This song goes right along with Olly's fun and carefree attitude with guitar beat similar to Cornershop's "Brimful of Asha" and some catchy whistling to top it off.

11.) Cry Your Heart Out
With a few minor lyric changes this song is essentially a studio cover of Cody Simpson's song "Don't Cry Your Heart Out." Once again, not a bad thing - it's a great song and Olly does a great job on it.

12.) One Of These Days
This song is a perfect way to close out the standard edition of the album. It's a great slow, sweet song that definitely make you tear up a bit, if you're an emotional person.

Final Verdict: 9/10 - Album #3 is another smash for Olly! He stays true to himself and his style of music that earned him a loyal following and made him the most successful solo male artist to come from The X-Factor, where he came in 2nd place back in 2009. This album will not disappoint fans and will hopefully make him some new one's, especially here in the US.
