One Direction's music video for "Best Song Ever" might be one of the best music videos to hit the web in awhile. The boys went in all sorts of major disguises for the video, and although that's the headline you might see all over the web about the video, director Ben Winston says the video actually has a little bit of a underlying meaning to it.
He says the video is truly about how the guys are themselves and do things the way they want and don't listen to what anyone else thinks. "The film that we've made 'This Is Us' is really the boys' story, and it's not trying to make them anything they're not. And that's what's incredible about One Direction, I think, is that they are a boy band that break all the rules and always do what they want to do," Winston told MTV News when the video premiered on Monday (July 22).
"And part of loving One Direction is sort of understanding they are their own men and they do what they want to do at all times," the director continued. "They dance if they want to dance. They'll sing the tunes [they want]. They'll dress however they want to dress and that, I guess, is sort of a part of the video."

In the video you may noticed the DVD of their upcoming movie, This Is Us, and how they showed some clips of the guys from the movie just being themselves. That was all part of the plan for the video.
"They actually put the DVD into the exec's DVD [player], show them some clips [of] 'This Is Us' and, in the end, just graffiti a picture of them looking cool, looking normal, looking how we would find them every day. And the punch line, of course, is this is us; don't try and make us anybody that we're not. We are who we are and we're never going to change for anybody."
I'm sure we can all agree we like One Direction just the way they are - 5 talented lads that make super catchy music and makes us smile and laugh with their great personalities.
