Another season of The X-Factor came to an end on Thursday night (December 20) where we saw one talented act win a $5 million recording contract. But the show saw a few changes this season that gave the show a new feel. Let's take a look at five of our favorite things.
5.) The Backstage Scenes
Since there was no host's during the audition process, one of the coolest part of this season was all the additional backstage footage they showed during that part of the show. From the contestants families to additional comments and interaction between the judges. It made the show even more entertaining and gave the show its own feel.
4.) Mario Lopez and Khole Kardashian
One of the biggest changes the show made this year was the addition of not one but two hosts, Mario Lopez and Khole Kardashian-Odom replaced season one host Steve Jones on this season's series. We weren't sure how the whole two-host format would work, but surprisingly it went well. But there's no doubt it was Mario who was the better host of the two - he always kept his cool and looked professional while Khole's inexperience was obvious sometimes. No word yet on if the two will be back again next year, but if they are - we're sure it their chemistry will be even better.
3.) Demi Lovato
We loved the fresh energy Demi Lovato brought to The X-Factor this season. Despite being the first judge to have all her contestants eliminated, she kept her cool. She brought a whole new audience to the show and gave the show a new point of view that no other singing competition show has. Not to mention we loved when she would get feisty against Simon Cowell at points throughout the season.
2.) Britney Spears and Her Facial Expressions
Gonna be honest, Britney Spears didn't add a whole lot to the show this season. Her comments were very short and often times pretty predictable - but what made her entertaining was her amazing facial expressions. You could also tell exactly what she was thinking. We especially love the one she made when the power went out at auditions and of course who can forget the priceless look of disgust she made when Fifth Harmony made the finals.
1.) The Leaderboard
There's no doubt the best thing The X-Factor did this season was the leaderboard. At the end of every results show Mario and Khloe released the voting order of all the remaining acts. Although the whole show was a battle between Carly Rose Sonenclar and Tate Stevens for the top spot, it was interesting and sometimes shocking to see where all the acts placed. It also made for shocking eliminations when acts, such as Vino Alan and Emblem 3, that consistently placed near the top were eliminated.
What did you like most about The X-Factor this season? With at least one judge out the door already we can probably expect a few more changes when the show returns for season 3 next fall on FOX. Who would you like to see on the judging panel?
