Hey everybody! Welcome to the very first edition of The Voice Rundown! Every Monday and Tuesday I'll be recapping the night's episode of The Voice. Let's get this party started!
The Voice opened the season in style with the coaches performing a rocking version of "Start Me Up." But it didn't take long to get right down to business with Scottish rocker Terry McDormatt's of The Who. He had the three guys going after him and ultimately decided to go with Blake. The strong start continued with De'borah who sang "Hey Soul Sister" and chose to go with Christina but the first fight of the night happened when country singer Gracia Harrison took the stage with a youldeling performance of "I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart." She got Adam so fired up that he called her the best country singer they've ever had on the show. However as luck would have it, after minutes of banter she would go with fellow country singer Blake Shelton. Devon Delorea took a risk when she performed “Ain’t No Other Man” by Christina Agularia, a risk that paid off when Christina, Adam, & Blake turned around for her. She obviously decided to go with Christina.
But it was Bryan Keith was the first (and only one of the night) to get all four coaches to turn around with his performance of “It Will Rain” after all the coaches gave feedback and speeches on why he should pick them. He decided to become the first member of Team Adam. Then coaches and viewers saw a familiar face when Daniel Rosa, who auditioned last season and got nobody to turn around, returned to perform a very unique version “Somebody I Used To Know” and got Cee-Lo and Blake to turn around and decided to go with Cee-Lo.
One disappointment of the night was when Anita Antoniett performed “No Women, No Cry” and didn't get any of the coaches to turn around but got a standing ovation after getting another performance shot. Adam told her to come back next year.
My personal favorite performance of the night was Joe Kirkland who performed an awesome version of “Gives You Hell” and got Blake & Adam to turn around immediately. And in the end he decided to go with Adam. Wrapping up the night was Trevon Hunt who got Cee-Lo, Christina, & Blake to turn around and a standing ovation and decided on Cee-Lo as his coach.
At the end of the night each coach ended up with two contestants on their teams, let's take a look:
Team Adam
Bryan Keith
Joe Kirkland
Team Blake
Terry McDormott
Gracia Herrison
Team Christina
De’borah
Devon Delorea
Team Cee-Lo
Daniel Rosa
Trevon Hunt
Be sure to tune in for another round of blind auditions tomorrow and Wednesday at 8/7c on NBC!
