We got the chance to be part of a roundtable interview with Fun Size stars Victoria Justice and Thomas Mann last Friday (October 19) at Mall of America in Minnesota. They talked all about the new movie such as what drew them to the film, as well as memorable moments and memories from the set of their upcoming movie. Check out what they had to say below. |
Thomas said that one thing that really drew him to Fun Size was the personality of his character. "I really liked reading the character, I thought he was so lovable and sensitive and he wasn’t trying to be cooler than he was ever, he was totally comfortable," he said. "I mean he knew he wasn’t the coolest guy in school and he was fine with that." But the thing that drew both of them to the film was the director, Josh Schwartz. "Josh Schwartz, the director, the coolest nicest guy ever has a great taste in what young people like and are into," Thomas said. Victoria agreed: "He’s like a modern day John Hughes because he gets into the mind of young people and understands them. I love that Fun Size was kinda like a John Hughes film, it has that coming of age comedy feel to it." |
And of course when you film a movie for awhile there's gotta be some embarrassing moments, right? Well not if you're Victoria Justice, but Thomas had an embarrassing moment during re-shoots in LA. "I passed out one day because it was really hot. It was during the re-shoot day in LA and it was like 116 degrees in the valley and we were wearing our Halloween costumes and in several layers of stuff," Thomas confessed. |
OK since, Victoria doesn't have any embarrassing moments on set, surely she has a great memory from her time on set.
"It was nice to be somewhere separate from Los Angeles," Victoria said. "We were just thrown into this small town in Cleveland, OH together with the film crew and cast and we had a lot of fun. We’d spend the whole night filming and then we’d still want to hang out with each other during the day. We’d just go hangout in someone’s room and just talk. Good cast bonding."

In addition to the early morning talks in cast mate's rooms, Thomas said one of his favorite memories was when they finally dropped the giant chicken on the car. "When we finally dropped the chicken on the car that was a big moment because we’d been talking about it for weeks hoping it was going to work," Thomas said. "That was like the big stunt of the movie. So when It finally happened it was so cool." |
For a lot of fans, Fun Size will be one of the first time's they see Victoria Justice outside of Nickelodeon. Because of her Nickelodeon fame with Zoey 101 and Victorious, she knows she has a lot of younger fans and understands the responsibility of being a role model for younger people.
"I think I keep my personal life and my professional life very separate," Victoria said. "I guess I am a role model to a lot of young girls and tweens out there and that’s really flattering I’m trying to do the best job I can and just being me, I think that’s all you really can do. I am conscious of that and I try to go out of my way to be a good role model and to inspire the kids and put out good messages."
Fun Size opens in theaters on October 26 (aka TOMORROW)! Be sure to go out and see it!
