This weekend I spent my time dog-sitting two of the loveliest pups around. I had a large TV, comfy couch, and no humans around the bother me as I indulged in E! shows all weekend long. While I watched the usual Kardashians (I'm sorry humanity, they're addicting), and the classic Sex and the City, I also ended up catching a few episodes of a new show E! has Opening Act. The premise of Opening Act is that Hollywood mega-producers take a small singer or band and helping them get ready to open for a major artist.
The show is an interesting show, not only do you get to see these bands live out their dreams and open for their idols, you also get an inside look at what it takes to get ready for these small bands to play such big shows. I must say I highly recommend it if you're looking for a new show to watch.
But this review isn't about Opening Act, it's about the band I saw on the show, TwentyForSeven. While watching the show I was intrigued by their story, having and older brother who's been in one band or another since he was 13 it hit close to home. But it wasn't until I looked up their youtube channel, and saw some more of their original songs and covers that I really became interested in them.
TSF hails from Michigan and is made up of four friends, Rajiv, Blake, Matt, and Corey. The pop-rock band got the chance to open up for Gym Class Heroes on Opening Act, but after hearing their quirky sound and adorable youtube videos I can assure you they would not have needed to exposure from the show to start seeing success.
Check out some of their videos below, including my current obsession, their accapella cover of Olly Murs' "Dance With Me Tonight" and let me know what you think of them!
Peace and love, Nimo
