Megan and Liz, known for their Youtube covers, as well as their hit radio singles Bad For Me and Release You, spoke to HitZone last week at the first date of their headlining tour in Minneapolis! See what the girls said about the iHeartRadio music festival, One Direction and their new album below!
What can you tell us about your new album?
Megan: Our album is a mix of super pop, but also really organic, like homegrown me and Liz. And it's called "Look What You Started". It has 11 songs right now.
And do you have any idea on the release date yet?
Megan: We don't..
Liz: Well.....
Megan: Not that we can share.
Before the end of the year?
Both: Yes
How did the idea for Release You come about?
Liz: Oh that was me, it was definitely a relationship that I was just like "Why am I still talking to you? Like I have no reason to still be talking to you" Like "Get you out of my life, I'm gunna release you!" Hence the song was born.
Will you to continue to post Youtube covers?
Megan: I feel like Youtube covers are something for us that are like, we would never do a cover intentionally to gain an audience. Like if we did do a cover from now on, we would really have to love the song, you know, if it's something that we feel is right.
So something that you feel would fit your voices, so you're like "Why don't we do this song"?
Megan: Exactly! It's not going to be like competing with other Youtubers, or all that stuff.
Could you guys see yourselves collaborating with your opening act Kalin and Miles?
Megan: Yeah definitely!
Liz: For sure!
Megan: They're cool guys
Liz: They're really cool, and their show is really fun, so we're really excited to have them on tour.
Do you guys have any advice for this year's "iHeartRadio Rising Star" winners, The Summer Set, on their performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival?
Liz: I would say my advice would be to mentally prepare for how hectic that day is going to be, because I was not mentally prepared, it was just like…
Megan: It's crazy! It will be the craziest day of your life. But also one of the best days of your life.
The girls then had two choices, and picked their favorite!
Pink or blue?
Both: Pink!
Country or pop?
Liz: Country.
Megan: Right now country, but in life probably pop.
Imagine Dragons or Robin Thicke?
Both: Robin Thicke.
Selena or Demi?
Both: Demi!
Backstreet Boys or NSYNC?
Liz: NSYNC
Megan: I don't know..
Liz: Are you Backstreet boys?
Megan: I think I'm Backstreet Boys.
The Wanted or One Direction?
Megan: Hmmm… One Direction
Liz: Yeah One Direction
Megan: 1D, man…
