Being a superstar like Olly Murs seems pretty awesome, but it turns out, just like most of us, doesn't take criticism very well. Olly has revealed that he was actually driven to drink alcohol after reading some not so nice things about himself online.
"I've never walked into a room and been arrogant or confident or horrible to anyone. And being seen like that – a nice bloke – was important to me," Olly apparently told The Sun in a new interview.
"But I was doing TV and I getting criticism every day – in blogs, tweets and the media," he continued. "Suddenly it seemed like nobody liked me. I didn't like that feeling. I didn't handle it well."
The "Heart Skips A Beat" and "Troublemaker" star went on to say that at the time, in 2011, drinking seemed like the only way to get people to like him.
"I was doing a lot of TV, not just The Xtra Factor but popping up on things like 8 Out of 10 Cats," he added. "I just felt I had to drink myself to a point where I had that Olly Murs personality again."
"Without it I didn't feel good enough or funny enough."
Olly has previously said that he might not return to The Xtra Factor this year to focus on his music in the United States.
