Last weekend I had the opportunity to go see an advance screening of One Direction's highly anticipated upcoming movie One Direction: This Is Us. Here's the official movie synopsis: "One Direction: This Is Us is a captivating and intimate all-access look at life on the road for the global music phenomenon. Weaved with stunning live concert footage, this inspiring feature film tells the remarkable story of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis' meteoric rise to fame, from their humble hometown beginnings and competing on the X-Factor, to conquering the world and performing at London's famed O2 Arena. Hear it from the boys themselves and see through their own eyes what it's really like to be One Direction."
That's a pretty accurate description of the movie. As a One Direction fan myself, I expected to like the movie and had high expectations after all the interviews that Director Morgan Spurlock has done on it lately. Let me just simply say I LOVED the movie and it certainly lived up to the high expectations I had for it.

The movie was very well done with some very cool concert scenes from the O2 Arena in London throughout the movie, in-between the exclusive footage they showed. The movie featured eleven of One Direction's songs from their Take Me Home Tour including kicking off the movie with "Up All Night" and "What Makes You Beautiful" as the final live performance we see. The concert scenes were great and added some really cool 3D effects that make you feel like you're at a One Direction concert. The boys also interact with the cameras quite a bit, which makes the whole thing feel even more real.
The thing I really enjoyed most about the movie was that it really focused on them and their unique relationship with each other. Their parents and family made emotional appearances at times, which really added to the film. The movie really showed the bond the boys have with each other and how they really lean on each other for support and to keep each other level headed. There was a lot of cool scenes with the boys just being themselves and talking about the band and their lives in general. The movie also focused a lot on the fans and how much they appreciate them and how they wish they had time to meet every single one of them.
Another thing I LOVED about the movie was that each of the boys seemed to get equal amounts of attention they deserve (which lets be honest, doesn't happen often with the way most media outlets operate). We see what it's like in the boys' hometowns and we get a inside look at their personal lives, such as Zayn's love for art.
Bottom line, the movie is emotional, funny, and engaging. It's a great movie that fans will love and people not familiar may also enjoy. It's truly a behind the scenes look at One Direction and who they are as guys. They really are just five normal lads with a really cool job who are still shocked by their success, but yet still very humble and appreciative of everything they have. The movie will make you laugh and cry. If you love One Direction now, the movie will make you love them even more!
The world premiere of One Direction: This Is Us happens on Tuesday (August 20) in London and opens in theaters in the UK (and most countries) on August 29 and in the US on August 30. A full list of release dates and links to purchase tickets can be found on 1dthisisus-movie.com.
It's a must see for any One Direction fan!
