The Voice returned this week for its fourth season with two brand new coaches, Usher and Shakira but from watching the show you would think they were there all along. The chemistry between all four coaches is as awesome as ever. The four superstar's kicked off the season with an amazing cover of The Beatles' "Come Together."
Lets start with Monday night's auditions, following the coaches performance the blind auditions kicked off with a bang as the first 4 turn performance of the season happened right off the bat. The Morgan Twins from Rochester, NY sang “Fallin” got Blake and Usher’s attention right away. Adam would soon follow along with Shakira. In the end though they decided to join 2-time Voice champion Blake Shelton.
21 year old Jess Kellner from Austin, TX sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” got Shakira and Usher to turn around right away. Adam mentioned that he heard to much Adele influence in her voice. She decided to go with Usher.
Mark Andrew a roofer from the Twin Cities in Minnesota dedicated his performance of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” to his bandmates who passed away, Nolan and Matt. It didn’t get to take long for Adam to turn around, Shakira would soon follow. Shakira told him she’s super passionate about him while Adam disagreed with the song choice but loved him. He went with Shakira.
16 year old Danielle Bradbery sang Taylor Swift’s “Mean” and got Blake and Usher to turn around at the same time. Adam would follow about halfway through. After all 3 coaches gave their hilarious pitches to her she decided to go with Blake.
Vedo, who’s mom just got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, was the next performance for the night. He did a very different R&B like performance Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” in honor of her. Only Usher turned around for him, but it was a great performance with a great story.
Christian Porter from PA is currently a bar musician and performs cover songs for three hours. He performed a very unique version of “Sexy and I Know It” – all the coaches seemed to love it and thought it was cool but only Usher, Shakira, and Blake turned around. He went with his gut and went with Blake. One of my personal favorite performances of the night.
After a few no-turn performances we had Kris Thomas from Memphis sang “Saving All My Love For You” and got Shakira to turn around.
But then we really hit the jackpot of the night when Judith Hill got personally invited to The Voice by Carson Daly. She was formally a background singer for Michael Jackson and even sang at his memorial service. She performed “What A Girl Wants” and got Adam and Usher right away, Usher even stood up mid-performance to cheer her on. Blake and Shakira would soon follow the other guys and turn around. She got a standing ovation from all the coaches. Adam got what he wanted and she became the first member of Team Adam.

That marked the end of night 1 of blind auditions, but night 2 offered a bunch of talented individuals as well. Tawnya Reynolds from Nashville kicked off Tuesday night's show with her performance of “Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” after getting Adam, Shakria, and Usher to turn around she choose Shakira.
27 year old male model Josiah Hawley was up next and he took a risk and decided to perform “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5. After a great performance he got Blake to turn around first followed by Usher and even Adam. He decided to go with Usher.
The first 4 turn performance of the night came when Midas Whale performed. The two are a folk duo from Idaho, something very different for a singing competition. After getting all the coaches to fight over them, they decided to join Team Adam.
After a chair no-turn performance from Abraham McDonald, Cathia hit the stage next with her performance of "No Me Doy Per Vencido." Being a music student, she was looking for a great mentor on the show and after getting Usher, Shakira, and Blake to turn around she decided to join Shakira.
The final performance of the night came from Sarah Simmons and her cover of "One of Us." It was one of the greatest performances and got all 4 judges fighting for her after they all turned around. But just like all but one of the 4-turn performances so far this season, Adam scored another great talent to his team.
Now that we caught up on all the noteworthy performances, here's a quick rundown of what the teams look like currently:
Team Adam Judith Hill Midas Whale Sarah Simmons | Team Blake The Morgan Twins Danielle Bradbery Christian Porter | Team Usher Jess Kellner Vedo Josiah Hawley | Team Shakira Mark Andrew Kris Thomas Tawnya Reynolds Cathia |
