The season finale of The Wanted's reality show, The Wanted Life, aired on Sunday night (July 14). In this special one hour episode, we see the moment Nathan went into surgery, his recovery process, and his return to the stage. Plus see how the other boys handled the band without Lil Nath. Here's your recap of episode 7, "Comeback Like A Pop Star."
We seeing Nathan leaving the Bahama’s and heading back to America to have his surgery. When getting back to America he goes to Scooter Braun’s office for a one-on-one meeting and talk about their gameplan going into surgery and get his mom on the phone to make sure she knows what’s going on.
Nathan’s mom arrives and the doctor explains to her and Nathan about what exactly he’s going to be doing in the surgery and we get to see Nathan be put to sleep for surgery with his final words to the doctors being “don’t f**k it up, good luck guys”. Two hours after surgery Nathan wakes up to find his mom and sister standing by his side. The doctor was there also and explained that he needs to take it easy the next few weeks. The rest of the band soon surprises him in the hospital room, Jay tells the camera that it’s definitely a reminder of how fast fame can be taken away from you.

Tom and Siva both say goodbye to their girlfriends as the boys move out of their LA home to begin their promo tour. The first stop is San Diego and it’s the first show without Nathan. Max is seen covering Nathan’s part in “I Found You” during the show and says he thinks he did a good job but not as good as Nath.
A week after surgery, Nathan along with his mom and sister meet up with the doctor again to discuss how recovery has been going. The doctor shows Nathan’s photos of his throat and what they removed and told him the importance of taking it easy. The doctor also gave Nathan permission to fly home and when Nathan asked about singing again, he replied that if he tries to sing again it might redevelop and they’d be back at square 1.
Tom and Jay are seen discussing what they’d do if the band were to split up. Jay says that he doesn’t have a back up plan but jokingly says he could be Nathan’s personal assistant.
The 4 boys have a meeting with Scooter Braun and talks about how the band has struggled with finding their sound and Scooter plays them a song called “We Own The Night” which a friend of his wrote and he thinks it could be the song that really makes them superstars. Scooter explains to them that they’ll hear rumors of a replacement search for Nathan, but that’s not true.
We fast forward to a month later, where Nathan is back in England and after doing nothing for two weeks he starts work with his vocal coach. He tells her that he has a goal of returning to the band at Wembly Stadium at the Capital FM Summertime Ball.
The rest of the boys are seen arriving in London and Jay calls it reassuring to see all the fans at the airport because it shows they haven’t forgotten about them while they’re away. When Siva goes home to meet with Nareesha, she breaks the news to him about her massive new opportunity that will keep her committed to staying in the UK and tells him that she won’t be able to go on tour with him anymore. She tells the camera that she was disappointed with his reaction and hoped that he would’ve been more excited for her.
At a rehearsal studio in London, the boys are doing some practice vocals before Scooter Braun shows up and surprises them with Nathan, who they haven’t seen in months. Scooter says the goal is for him to return at Summertime Ball but that it will be a “gametime decision.”
Then it’s the day of the Capital FM Summertime Ball, Nathan says he feels like he’s ready to return to the stage but is super nervous because he says it could go either way. 2 hours before showtime the four boys are on-stage rehearsing and are explained how Nathan is going to make his surprise appearance for “I Found You.” 45 minutes before showtime Nathan is seen getting ready and says that every gig is nerve-wracking but this is on a different scale for him.
It’s time for the show to begin, the four boys pop up on stage and Jay takes a moment to say how great it is to be back in the UK and thanks the fans and tells them that Nathan was unable to make the show today and dedicates “I Found You” to him. As the boys sing, Nathan is seeing understage getting ready to pop-up and just in time for his big solo, he surprises fans by popping up on stage and rocking out his part to the delight of the fans. Nathan says the moments like that is what he lives for and adds that if died right now, he’d die a happy man.
After the show, Max is seen talking with his mom and his brother Jack where they discuss a little about Max’s acting career and Max decides that there’s nothing like that feeling on stage and decides that right now it’s all about The Wanted. Nathan also talks to the boys and says that the whole thing made him realize that he shouldn’t take being in The Wanted for granted.
The episode and the season ends with Jay says that the past few months have been hard for them but he’s excited for the future, which he hopes will include more hit singles and more world tours and maybe a group baby (LOL) as the group is seen giving a toast to the future.
